The New Year burst into our lives, as expected, as usual. And once again, it is rapidly changing our lives and work routines. Fortunately, these changes haven't affected our health as they did in early 2020. However, 2021 has touched the very foundation of the occupational health and safety management system.
I believe the changes we are seeing are capable of putting Russia on par with European countries in terms of industrial safety management. And Russia is ready for such changes!
The core idea behind these changes is risk assessment! This approach makes you think; it breaks stereotypes, pulls back the heavy curtains from our minds, and expands our horizons. The better the risks are assessed, the safer the working conditions, the workplace, and the employee's behavior will be. At the same time, personal responsibility lies with everyone involved in the risk assessment. Since risk assessment is a multi-level process, every level of business management — from the shop floor operator to the CEO — can influence safety.
I am confident that in a couple of years, the question 'How did we live without this before?' will be on the lips of everyone involved in the fascinating process of risk assessment, and the phrase 'risk assessment rules' will become a catchphrase.
