On June 14, the Safety Guarantors Club held a business breakfast in Moscow, bringing together over 50 top executives from the country's major businesses. Participants included representatives from INK-Capital, EVRAZ Market, Transmashholding, Metalloinvest, NLMK, Salym Petroleum, MMK, SDS-Ugol, Tagras-RS, and other companies.
The event was supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. Oleg Stupin, Director of the Regional and Industrial Policy Department, noted the need for cooperation between business and the state: "It is necessary to find a symbiosis between business and the state to jointly change the trend of recent years and influence the reduction of injury rates in Russia. We are ready for active interaction with business leaders and owners on issues related to human safety."
Andrey Prokopenko, founder of the HSE DAYS project, explained that the Safety Guarantors Club is being created to reduce the number of fatal and severe accidents in Russian industry: "We are creating an environment of the most committed directors, where other top executives receive inspiration and support to become similar leaders in safety. We have successfully implemented this principle in HSE DAYS, and now we are moving to a higher level – because without the involvement of top business leaders in safety issues, nothing will change globally."
Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, INK-Capital, Salym Petroleum, Tagras-RS, NLMK, and Metalloinvest delivered presentations at the business breakfast. One of the central topics was the discussion of the role of personal leadership of CEOs in ensuring occupational safety.
Marina Sedykh, CEO of INK-Capital and Chairwoman of the Safety Guarantors Club, shared her principle: "I am responsible for the lives of the people who come to work for us because they trusted me. I must build a system so that they feel and work absolutely safely, returning home safe and sound from every shift."
"A leader must internally feel and care about safety. They must have a focus on safety, which often weakens among many managers. Look at the people who do all this; they are highly successful people who deliver leadership results in their segment. There are no successful safety professionals who lag behind in business," noted Ayrat Zakirov, CEO of Tagras-RS.
The importance of creating the Club was also noted by Denis Paramoshin, CEO of Salym Petroleum: "On this platform, we speak the same language and are in the same coordinate system, and this allows us to truly expand our influence across the country regarding safe production. There is enough information and theory; what is lacking is practice. Practice is exactly what is developed at such meetings and at our own sites."
The participants agreed to hold the next meeting in the format of an industrial site visit, and to create a closed Telegram chat for direct communication and work coordination.
