Per-shift risk assessment (PSRA) checklists are the foundation for ensuring safety and efficient operations at an enterprise. A checklist contains simple questions on topics already familiar to employees, and a list of topics related to checking safety systems and compliance with HSE requirements.
The criteria are aimed at ensuring employee safety and minimizing the risks of accidents or other hazardous situations. Risk assessment checklists are issued to the employee by their line manager. The manager verifies the correctness of the entries made by the employee before starting work and during the performance of work at the workplace. Before starting work, the employee enters information about the assigned task into the checklist; risk-creating factors are included in a short checklist that the employee must "run through" and confirm the absence of risk by marking the checklist.
If the workplace does not meet safety criteria, the employee is prohibited from starting work. The employee must report this to their line manager. The site supervisor and line manager allow work to proceed only after implementing risk mitigation measures and creating safe working conditions at the workplace. The line manager must report all identified risks and control measures taken to the production site supervisor.
At the end of the shift, the line manager collects the checklists and hands them over to the site supervisor, who records the work performed and inspections conducted. This helps in conducting a more detailed analysis of the work performed for previously unidentified risks and taking measures to eliminate them. At the end of the month, based on the analysis, comprehensive measures are developed to prevent the occurrence of risks identified and eliminated during the month. Per-shift checklist inspections help prevent potentially dangerous situations. Proper execution of the risk assessment procedure allows for the timely detection of malfunctions and the timely replacement or repair of equipment, as well as taking measures to prevent injuries or operational failures.
