Engaging Talent in the HSE Profession

30 October 2023 🇷🇺 Original: русский 1 min read

The issue of attracting new, promising specialists is acute in the field of HSE.

Many enter this field by chance and lack a relevant higher education. This largely explains the popularity of professional retraining centers.

More and more company owners are coming to realize that an employee performing their duties in decent conditions can bring significant benefits to the organization.

How can we popularize this field and ensure a steady influx of qualified personnel?

I believe it is important to engage in educational work: conducting seminars, lectures, and webinars, and discussing the pros and cons, which will allow for a conscious choice.

Often, young men and women enroll in higher education based not on their own desires, but on other factors, particularly their parents' opinions.

One needs to understand why they are entering this profession and answer this question for themselves.

There are several advantages, primarily the moral aspect: ensuring production continuity and helping employees. This leads to a sense of one's own significance.

Next is material well-being.

The profession is in high demand, and there is a clear growth trend. A skilled expert can realistically earn a decent income.

Then, there is the constant drive and incentive for development.

Legislation changes, methods improve, and it is necessary to stay abreast of innovations and apply them to the HSE Management System at the enterprise.

An obvious advantage is the broadening of horizons: studying and applying new requirements and implementing practices from Russian and international organizations helps thousands of people.

The chance to visit other countries offers new standards and excellent experience that can be applied.

There is a vast field for moving forward. Science is advancing in leaps and bounds: the use of computer games and interactive films, robotic machines, remote auditing tools, virtual reality technologies, first aid simulators, and much more.

Constant improvement of personal qualities such as leadership, team management, the art of negotiation, and so on.

Career growth. It is quite possible to go from a beginner to a Director in this field.

Let's talk about the challenges.

Responsibility. But on the other hand, if it is not shown, it is difficult to achieve success anywhere. This is a hallmark of a leader.

Stress resistance. Of course, passing inspections and investigating incidents adds tension, but it also teaches how to prevent risks, protect the health of colleagues, and pass audits with positive feedback.

Multitasking. The ability to concentrate efforts on priority goals and move in the right direction.

And, of course, constant progress.

In our world, this is a useful quality that allows one to succeed and achieve excellent results.

So, if you love what you do and help the business and the people involved, huge opportunities open up.
