Little Guests at a Big Plant: Employees' Children See the Factory and Mine from the Inside

Medvezhy Ruchey LLC once again opened its doors to young explorers by organizing its annual excursion to the Norilsk Concentrator and the Zapolyarny Mine. For 35 children whose parents work at the company's facilities, this day became a real adventure, as the opportunity to see where their moms and dads work is a dream for many.

This annual tradition is not just an entertaining event, but an important element of education and career guidance. It allows children to see the real picture of their parents' labor, understand the complexity and responsibility of their work, and touch the world of high technology and engineering. The impressions gained on this day will surely stay with the children for a long time, shaping their understanding of the importance of labor and each person's contribution to a common cause. Perhaps some of these young guests will one day choose the path of an engineer, geologist, or worker at one of these unique northern enterprises.

Such an experience — where children see how valuable resources are extracted from the depths of the earth, how complex mechanisms turn raw materials into a finished product, and how important every detail is in this process — is invaluable. It helps them realize that behind every object they use lies the immense labor of many people. Special attention to HSE, presented in a playful way, instills in children the understanding that caring for health and life is the primary task at any production facility.

The journey began with an immersion into the world of ore concentration. The children curiously learned how valuable metals are extracted from the earth and what modern technologies help in this challenging task. Fascinating stories and exciting facts about the factory's operations left no one indifferent. Special attention was paid to HSE: an educational cartoon was prepared for the children, explaining the rules of conduct at a production site in a playful format.

An exhibition of personal protective equipment caused genuine delight. The children eagerly tried on hard hats, gloves, and face shields, seeing firsthand how important it is to protect oneself in the workplace. It was not only fun but also highly educational!

The culmination of the factory visit was getting acquainted with the work of a real blacksmith. Sparks flying from under the hammer and metal transforming in his hands created a real show that inspired the young audience. "I never thought a blacksmith's job could be so interesting!" the kids shared.

Next, the route led to the Zapolyarny Mine — the oldest, or rather, the very first enterprise in Norilsk. Here, the children learned how life is organized underground and in the open pit, and got acquainted with the advanced equipment used by geologists and mine surveyors — from spectrometers to quadcopters. The kids were especially impressed by the 3D surveying.

Once again, personal protective equipment caused a stir, as did the opportunity to go through the electronic medical examination system. The visit wouldn't be complete without traditional miner's tea at the entrance to the mine workings. And watching the equipment operate in the open pit from the mine's dispatch room became a vivid memory for many.

Such an excursion is not just an introduction to production, but a true immersion into the world of labor and technology. The children felt like part of a large and responsible team, gaining invaluable life experience.

Trying on hard hats and gloves, watching a blacksmith at work, and learning about modern geological equipment — all this creates vivid, memorable images that will undoubtedly influence their worldview. Even seemingly simple moments, like an electronic medical check-up or miner's tea, leave a deep mark, making the excursion not only educational but also emotionally rich.

This is an opportunity to feel like part of something big and significant, to touch the history and modernity of one of the country's northernmost industrial giants. And, of course, a sweet buffet and memorable gifts became a pleasant conclusion to this unforgettable day, symbolizing the enterprise's care and attention to its employees' families. Such events strengthen the bond between workers and the company, creating an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect, and demonstrate that Medvezhy Ruchey LLC values not only the labor of its employees but also their families.
