A high level of environmental safety is one of our company's top priorities. We adhere to the principles of social responsibility, transparency, and the most open environmental policy possible. As part of implementing these principles, we regularly conduct "Public Monitoring" initiatives. Any resident of Perm can apply to participate. During these events, community activists and representatives of local government bodies get a firsthand look at the work of the company's environmental protection service and its environmental control and monitoring system. They also participate in taking air quality measurements using a mobile environmental laboratory. Together with the company's environmental specialists, these "public monitors" travel multi-kilometer routes and participate in analyzing air samples at several locations: within the company's sanitary protection zone, in private residential areas, and on the company's premises. Air sampling and subsequent real-time analysis are conducted across 12 indicators: aromatic and saturated hydrocarbons, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen and sulfur dioxides, ammonia, sulfuric acid, phenol, and carbon monoxide.
In May 2023, the company held another initiative. This time, the participants were students — future environmentalists and environmental engineers. They visited two sampling points where they checked air quality using equipment from the mobile laboratory and an automated stationary environmental post. Based on the analysis results, no exceedances of maximum permissible concentrations of pollutants in the air were detected. The event concluded with the students participating in a round table discussion with our company's environmental specialists. Participants asked many clarifying questions about the operation of environmental posts and the company's environmental activities.
The company plans to continue initiating "Public Monitoring" events, as such initiatives promote education and involve city residents in solving environmental challenges and implementing environmental projects. They also help build a positive environmental image of the company among the public.
