In recent years, the team at Rosenergoatom Concern JSC has focused on a proactive approach to safety, as administrative resources alone cannot solve the issue of injuries. Our goal is to achieve zero accidents, which is only possible through an employee's conscious attitude toward HSE. An event like the 'Safe City' festival unites all generations and forms a shared, family model of safe behavior, which is its special value.
On Russia Day, the city of Zarechny hosted the first 'Safe City' family festival, organized by Rosenergoatom Concern JSC in collaboration with the Beloyarsk NPP and the city administration.
I invite you to take a stroll through the streets of this city along with the participants.
We begin our walk at Health Square: here, everyone is taught first aid skills. The youngest learn how to apply bandages, while older children practice life-saving techniques on a manikin, helping a choking person, and performing chest compressions.

Straight ahead is Bakery Street: a kitchen has been set up on the pedestrian boulevard where chef Stepan Smirnov, a finalist of "Battle of the Chefs," demonstrates how to safely chop vegetables, fry pancakes, prepare poached eggs, and make summer strawberry gazpacho. While cooking, participants learn about safe behavior in the kitchen, proper food storage, and food allergens.
Turning onto Pedestrian Street: here, certified instructors introduce scooter and bicycle enthusiasts to traffic rules and teach them to watch for "blind spots" when operating various vehicles. Also, by wearing "drunk goggles," everyone can experience how perception is distorted and the risk of accidents increases.
Next, we enter Fire Lane, where firefighters reveal the secrets of their work — for example, they will show you how to put on protective gear in less than a minute. Here, you can also peek inside a fire truck, learn how to use a fire extinguisher, and properly put on a gas mask.
Let's stop at the "LizaAlert" station: professionals from the search and rescue squad tell children and their parents how to behave if they get lost in a public place, how to keep a child safe on the street, and how not to get lost in the woods.
We head up to Clean Planet Avenue, where residents and guests are introduced to the rules of collecting, sorting, and recycling waste. Parents and children create their own keychains from recycled materials.
Moving on to Sports Street: it's time to practice safety skills during sports and get some exercise.
Turning onto PPE Street: this is the place to learn the correct use of personal protective equipment.
We come out onto the Street of Wonders, to watch scientific experiments that look more like spectacular magic tricks and to thank the organizers and volunteers from the Beloyarsk NPP youth organization and the "Phoenix" squad of the Urals Technological College (a branch of MEPhI). Together with experts, they conduct contests and workshops on the streets and squares of the "Safe City".
All our HSE activities are aimed at changing habitual thinking and behavioral aspects, forming a new model of human behavior. Simply telling people doesn't work; it's important to experience it personally. The "Safe City" concept allows for the acquisition of necessary skills: from one location to another, the festival's young guests gain valuable experience that stays with them — the body remembers the necessary action algorithms. Parents who come here with their children also begin to view safety differently, subsequently applying this mindset to their own work.
