In the dynamically developing world of industrial capacities and digital technologies, employees strive to increase their productivity and achieve the best results, often neglecting their own health. They stay at work overtime, ignore the need for regular breaks and rest, and postpone well-deserved vacations for the sake of urgent tasks and deadlines. The constant pressure of workload and personal responsibility creates significant emotional stress, while the lack of sufficient physical activity leads to a sedentary lifestyle. This, of course, affects the health of each individual, as we spend most of our conscious lives at work.
Does widespread physical inactivity affect your business?
This question cannot be answered quickly and unequivocally. However, upon deeper analysis, you can see that the costs incurred by the company for sick leave, corporate health insurance, replacing an employee during their absence, and recruiting and onboarding new staff can make up a substantial percentage of total personnel expenses.
A simple solution can be the implementation of workplace gymnastics. My project "A Minute for Health" did not require large financial investments or labor hours. We developed 5-8 minute exercise routines that do not require special training, equipment, or clothing to perform simple physical exercises right at the workplace. With the help of our own employees, we recorded videos ourselves, which are published daily through corporate information channels (internal portal, Telegram channel, office video displays).
What problems might arise on the path to a solution?
A low level of awareness among employees, lack of organizational support, limited space and conditions, and psychological barriers can become obstacles on the path to the health of your specialists. Conducting informational campaigns explaining the benefits of physical activity in the workplace will help spark employees' interest. Highlighting to managers the benefits of increased employee productivity and a reduced number of sick days due to improved staff health will make it possible to convince leadership of the correctness and necessity of the chosen initiative. By choosing adaptive exercises that do not require much space or special equipment, you can extend your project to all employees without exception. If you create an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect, the psychological barrier will also be overcome.
How can you inspire employees to engage in sports and training by personal example?
Start the implementation with yourself and the departments closest to you. Exercise yourself and involve others, publish your feedback and stories about the results of colleagues who regularly engage in physical activity at work. Continuously analyze the effectiveness of your project's implementation and be sure to tell department heads about the positive results and economic impact.
Conclusion: stable company growth through team health.
Develop the project: expand the range of exercise routines, create themed episodes or humorous videos, involve respected colleagues in the filming, and integrate new technologies and artificial intelligence, for example, to animate your videos. Then the project will live long and bring benefits to everyone on your team, and sustainable and fruitful development to the company!
