Workwear, while fulfilling the task of protecting employees from hazardous and harmful production factors, is also an important element in creating a company's image. Its use helps emphasize corporate spirit, attract attention, and gain respect and trust.
By demonstrating that they belong to a single team, employees work more cohesively, while making the brand recognizable and improving the company's reputation. Workwear is an indicator of a systematic approach. If it is designed in a corporate style, made of high-quality materials, and crafted by a designer, it is a sign of a developing, successful, and reliable company.
At JSC Russian Railways, work on updating workwear and safety footwear is carried out on an ongoing basis, taking into account market research, quality monitoring results, and feedback from employees during its use.
In 2020-2021, the technical specifications for workwear and footwear were completely redesigned. The new collection includes 65 models of safety footwear, including 32 models for women. The range of workwear models for women has been significantly expanded. Out of 41 workwear models, 16 were developed specifically for women.
Summer kits include a T-shirt and headwear made of fluorescent materials. Winter kits include an insulated vest that can be used as a standalone item with demi-season and/or summer workwear.
To improve the ergonomics of the workwear, changes were made to the linear measurements of the model designs, and the surface density of the materials used in summer workwear was adjusted. To ensure increased visibility, the color schemes of the models were changed, and fluorescent and reflective materials were added.
To ensure increased visibility for employees, high-visibility safety apparel was developed for the first time. New, high-tech materials were used in the collection.
JSC Russian Railways monitored both insulated and summer workwear and safety footwear, which showed a steady trend of employees giving higher ratings for the quality and comfort of PPE. Thus, 75% of employees rated summer workwear as "excellent" or "good," while 79% of employees gave the same rating to insulated types.
