Over the last six years, ASIA DRILLING has demonstrated impressive growth: expanding the drilling rig fleet, implementing complex equipment, and increasing staff numbers have become symbols of its dynamic development. However, intensive development inevitably brings new challenges, especially in the field of HSE.
New Challenges
The company's growth revealed serious problems: a shortage of qualified specialists, insufficient personnel training, and high turnover. This created risks, including industrial injuries, safety system failures, and forced downtime.
Traditional training methods proved insufficient. They do not always allow for the formation of skills in real production conditions, let alone preparation for emergency situations where the cost of an error can be a human life.
The company's main task in the field of HSE became obvious: to create a training system that would not only transfer theoretical knowledge but also form practical skills as quickly and effectively as possible.
Digital Simulator
In search of a solution, the company studied modern technologies such as VR and 3D simulators, but the choice fell on a digital simulator. Its main advantages are accessibility, ease of use, training effectiveness, and minimal impact on production processes.
Main project goals:
Implementation Stages
Project implementation began with an analysis of the safety system. This allowed for identifying weak points and determining directions for improvement. Then, a project roadmap was developed: from selecting a contractor to launching the system.
The digital simulator became part of an end-to-end training business process. First, employees study theory at the training center and local regulatory documents. Then they move on to practical training on the simulator, where real production situations are simulated. The final stage is practicing skills at real facilities.
Structure of the Solution
The digital simulator includes two key training modules:
Implementation Results
The implementation of the digital simulator was a turning point for the training system at ASIA DRILLING. The company achieved significant growth in employee training levels and a reduction in accident rates. Automation of the training process reduced its costs and ensured continuous improvement of worker competence.
This project clearly demonstrated that investments in safety not only prevent accidents but are also economically justified, as they allow for optimizing the training process and minimizing downtime.
The digital simulator is not just a tool, but a step into the future. It shows how modern technologies can make production safer and more efficient.
