Evolution of Corporate Health: From Medical Check-ups to Comprehensive Well-being Programs

The modern approach to occupational health requires a shift from formal medical check-ups to proactive programs. During the strategic session, industry experts discussed how to implement initiatives that genuinely change employees' attitudes toward their health. Speakers analyzed practical case studies: from creating video content to conducting targeted cancer screenings and managing stress.

Evaluating the Effectiveness of Health Video Content

In her presentation, Diana Bezruk detailed the use of videos to raise employee awareness. Creating high-quality content, such as using 3D animation, requires investment, so it is important to understand how to evaluate its effectiveness.

  • What was proposed: Using 3D animation to visually demonstrate processes in the body (e.g., a ruptured blood vessel).
  • Why it matters: Visualization leaves a strong emotional impact and is remembered better than standard lectures. This helps overcome employee distrust of employer initiatives (e.g., fear of dismissal after a cardiac screening).
  • How it works in practice: Effectiveness is evaluated through surveys, view statistics, and feedback from local managers. If foremen and shop supervisors notice a change in worker behavior (e.g., more careful visual inspection during temperature changes), it means the content is working.

Organizing Targeted Cancer Screening

Special attention at the session was given to the prevention of occupational and age-related diseases. The speaker demonstrates, using the example of organizing an on-site cancer screening for men, how to work precisely with risk groups.

  • What was done: A targeted cancer screening was organized, aimed at checking the lungs, prostate and thyroid glands, as well as the skin.
  • Why it matters: Early diagnosis in risk groups (in this case, men's health) allows for the detection of pathologies at stages when treatment is most effective.
  • How it works: The mobile team consists of an oncologist, an ultrasound doctor, and a nurse. Blood tests (tumor markers) and ultrasounds are performed, and skin samples are taken for histology. EGD results are integrated from regular medical check-up data.

Combating Bad Habits and Stress

Well-being programs should cover not only physical but also mental health, as well as employees' lifestyles.

  • Quitting smoking: Elisey Gapchenko presented the "Health Relay" program, where the personal example of top management plays a key role. Discussion participants also suggested using replacement therapy (sticks, sprays) under the supervision of specialized experts for workers with severe addiction.
  • Stress management: Irina Klimanova spoke about methods to reduce aggression and the "fight or flight" response. Using relaxation practices (e.g., nature sounds, art therapy in a calm atmosphere) helps employees cope with accumulated stress.
  • Culture of gratitude: Implementing simple tools, such as sending "thank you, colleague" templates throughout the company, helps improve the psychological climate.
