- A game, a game... what are we, children, playing games?
- We are not children! Let's split into 2 groups: the first group works with handouts and completes a practical task, the second group completes a practical task in a game format.
How many trainees do you think were in the first group?
That's right, very few.
When people hear the word "game", they think nothing serious is about to happen.
It will! And how!
You forget that from an early age, you LEARNED ABOUT THE WORLD THROUGH PLAY.
- Did you like it?
- Yes!
- So what has changed now?
- Now we are adults.
- And? You can't learn through play?
- We can
- Yes! You can!
After all, gamification is the application of game mechanics in non-game contexts. Games make learning more interesting, effective, and memorable.
What benefits does a student get from gamification?
1️⃣ Visualization and demonstration of how to work correctly with equipment, materials, and tools, because "while the teacher speaks, the student does not learn".
2️⃣ Reduction of errors and understanding which actions can lead to industrial accidents and incidents, and how knowledge of safety measures contributes to quick, safe decision-making.
In a game, you can make mistakes, but in real life, a mistake is costly!
3️⃣ Increased motivation and interest in HSE training, realizing that their (the worker's) life, health, and safety are not just "blah-blah-blah", but a value for the company.
Imagine a worker who gives thanks at the end of the training; they found everything in the course interesting and useful. The worker sincerely believes that safety is an integral part of their life!
With what emotions and impressions will the worker apply safety knowledge in the future?
Imagine that!
And it's real! Nothing is impossible!
Do you often use games in training?
