Transforming the corporate environment (making safety simple, clear, and accessible to everyone) and fostering employees' desire to use their knowledge and experience to implement changes and act safely are the two key components of successful safety culture development. Broadcasting safety through all communication channels acts as an amplifier that multiplies the success of any initiative! The professionals at the Public Relations and Media Service are experts in this!
Since 2019, every monthly issue of the corporate newspaper "Noyabrsky Gazovik" has included a section on safety culture. Key safety rules and infographics are displayed on all corporate multimedia screens, and a new "Safety Minute" release is published weekly on the corporate portal's news feed. To engage young specialists and develop commitment to safety culture, safety messages are also broadcast via social networks, specifically through the company's Telegram channel and VK community.
Imagine our surprise when, at the end of 2020, we were presented with the #Gaz_takiepravila corporate comic calendars, even though HSE specialists had neither imposed nor suggested the idea. Our creative, engaged, and safety-committed colleagues independently came up with the stories and illustrated the comic with a designer. We thoroughly enjoyed reading the #Gaz_takiepravila comic stories, written in accessible language for us and about us!
The #Gaz_takiepravila corporate comic calendar became the most decorated project of 2020. It took second place in the international "Press Service of the Year – 2020" competition and the federal "ConTEKst-2021" award. The #Gaz_takiepravila calendar series also won the "Creative Format" category at the VI National Corporate Calendar Competition "Silver Threads-2021."
In 2022, our creative colleagues added gamification to the "Be in the Know" corporate calendar. Twelve creative months of the calendar are dedicated to health protection, transport safety, rules of movement at production sites, the use of personal protective equipment, work schedules, industrial safety, ecology, and energy conservation. At the end of each month, there is a task; by completing it correctly, one can win corporate merch, and the torn-off page of the wall calendar can be turned into origami.
The use of unconventional formats and communication methods increases awareness, boosts activity, and encourages direct employee participation in forming a conscious attitude toward compliance with industrial safety rules.
