Who is involved in the project?
Depending on the scale and complexity of the project, various individuals may be involved. Either the project affects their interests, or they are directly involved in its implementation. There aren't that many key project participants.
The Client — the future owner of the project results. They are interested in the project's implementation, define the requirements for the outcome, and provide funding. In my team, we joke that the client is the one who holds you accountable for the result 😊
The Project Manager — the central figure in project management. They ensure the project achieves its goals, the team stays within budget and deadlines, and the result is of the required quality. They assemble the project team, upon whom the success of the entire project largely depends. In my subjective view, the PM (Project Manager) is the backbone of the project, the team motivator, and a shield against external barriers.
The Project Team — a group of individual specialists (internal or external) who work on the project and report to the PM. This also includes representatives from cross-functional verticals such as HR and PR, IT and the production vertical, who help create the final product.
What is the first thing a client should do? Find resources, stakeholders for the final product, and the right project manager.
Putting it into practice 😊
In our company, the Deputy General Director for HSE became the client. Recurring cases of fatal and severe injuries could in no way be the norm for the Company.
The stakeholders are in the cross-functional verticals, and the project manager is me.
