🛡️ Safety: Where Does It Begin and End?

🛡️ Safety: Where Does It Begin and End?

Industrial safety is not a static "state of protection," as the official definition suggests.

It cannot be achieved once and for all by obtaining a certificate or passing another audit.

Safety is a continuous, living, and evolving process.

  • ✅ It is renewed every moment a manager or worker decides to act safely.

  • ‼️ It is interrupted when they decide to "take a risk" and act in a way that is easier, faster, or more familiar.

  • ✅ It is renewed when people openly report emerging problems and take an active interest in solving them.

  • ‼️ It is interrupted when, faced with a potential hazard, they decide to remain silent or pass by with indifference.

Hundreds of such decisions, made when "the bosses" aren't looking, are the true manifestation of the safety culture that everyone talks so much about developing.

It is built neither on loud public statements nor on colorful corporate TV videos. It is the daily choice of many people acting according to the laws of a real priority system and established corporate relationships.

It is this system that motivates people and reinforces the habit of acting in a certain way.

Initially, it is formed at the highest levels of management. Therefore, the necessary changes must begin and be sustained there — at the very top of the company. In real life, this is much harder to achieve than figuring out how to apply AI or conducting an HSE training or strategic session.
