Creating high-quality video content for training, briefings, and presentations traditionally requires significant resources: time for filming, studio preparation, camera work, and lighting. Given the regular updates to regulatory frameworks and the need to adapt materials for different audiences, the traditional approach becomes a bottleneck. In his presentation, Vasily Ryazanov, Head of the Data Science team at Twinby, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, and AI expert, explains how AI avatar technology is transforming the video creation process, making it fast, scalable, and cost-effective.
An AI avatar is a digital video copy of a person created from a short source video. The speaker demonstrates how this technology works using the HeyGen platform. To create an avatar, you simply need to record a two- to five-minute video following basic rules (do not cover your face, speak with pauses). After processing, the system generates a digital copy capable of reproducing the speaker's voice, facial expressions, and gestures.
The process of creating new videos featuring the avatar is similar to working in a simple text editor: the user enters text, selects the language and intonation, and the system generates a finished video. This completely eliminates the need for reshoots when creating new content.
The presentation details four key areas where the use of AI avatars provides the greatest impact:
The speaker emphasizes that the main advantage of AI avatars is the ability to delegate routine work. A person only needs to participate in filming once, after which scriptwriting and video generation can be handed over to assistants. This solves force majeure issues (speaker illness, lack of a studio) and significantly reduces production costs.
However, the technology has its limitations. Vasily Ryazanov notes potential artifacts in the intonation of the generated voice (especially in Russian) and the avatar's gesture dependency on the source video. Furthermore, when implementing such solutions in a corporate environment, information security and ethical issues must be considered — the viewer should not be misled about the nature of the video content.
