How to Generate Leaders in Your Organizations

The fundamental difference between leadership and management was very accurately noted by the famous Russian scientist A.I. Prigozhin, who said that "leadership is not so much a position as it is an attitude."

What distinguishes a leader from others is not their position, but their special (constructive, creative, even personal) attitude toward the organization's goals and objectives or any other situation within it.

This understanding of a leader allows us to formulate the three main components of leadership:

? The leader's vision of a common goal;

? The leader's desire to achieve the set goal;

? The leader's ability to mobilize people to achieve it.

Leadership is essentially one of the system-forming factors for an organization, ensuring the voluntary unification and unlocking of a group's potential to achieve a common goal. Furthermore, we are convinced that the gift of leadership can be developed in every person.

The components of leadership allow us to formulate three basic elements of the value-goal model of leadership:

? Values, i.e., the leader's internal need for development or self-actualization within a specific value.

? Goals, i.e., the leader's vision (based on their internal values) of their own large-scale goal, which is harmoniously aligned with the organization's goals.

Due to its scale, such a goal allows for encompassing the potential goals of all followers, which ultimately serves as the basis for satisfying the needs of not only the leader but also all their followers. This is the defining factor in follower motivation.

? Engagement Tools, i.e., the leader's mastery of a set of effective tools for engaging personnel in collaborative activities to achieve a common goal.

All elements of the model are interconnected, and leadership is ensured only when there is clear alignment between its elements. In the absence of any element, leadership is impossible.

The value-goal model of leadership answers two main questions: "How is a leader born/created?" and "What motivates a leader to lead others?" The answers provided to these questions allow for the generation of leaders in any organization.
