The work of an HSE specialist involves immense stress and tension.
Accident investigations, regulatory inspections, pandemics... Life regularly presents new challenges.
The question arises: how can one continue to work in difficult conditions, keep developing, and enjoy life?
First, it is important to accept your state and say, "Yes, this is a difficult period and it's hard for me, but I will manage." Keep in mind that everyone makes mistakes. When it happens, do not blame yourself for the slip-up; instead, acknowledge it and decide how you will fix it.
Next, it is essential to set aside time for rest. Many of us work more than eight hours a day, devote all our free time to chores, and cannot relax even on vacation. Unfortunately, there is a current trend where employees constantly stay late at work and never let go of their mobile phones while on holiday.
Rest is very important! Without quality rest, there will be no effective work. At least once a week, you need to get enough sleep, go to a park, or talk with loved ones. In short, dedicate time to yourself.
Travel! There is a stereotype that you can only visit new places a couple of times a year during vacation. In fact, there are many more opportunities. There are a huge number of places that you can visit for just a few days to completely recharge your body.
Let's talk about sports. In a stressful situation, the body has three unconditional reactions: "freeze," "fight," and "flight." It is precisely the first and third of these that are important to channel in the gym or on a run.
Even if you are very tired, the day after a workout, you will realize for yourself that you feel good.
The optimal number of workouts is two to three per week. And, of course, do what you enjoy, as there are plenty of options: from dancing and yoga to martial arts.
Filter the amount of incoming information and limit the news. Watching and listening to negative news increases tension levels significantly.
It is also worth monitoring the quality of your food. Reduce fast food consumption and increase the amount of fruits and vegetables. Coffee can be replaced with tea, and when consuming energy drinks, including cola, remember that the body is borrowing from itself. Regarding alcohol, it is strictly forbidden to constantly drown your stress in it. I admit that in limited doses it can provide relaxation, but believe me, new interesting events and sports bring more positive emotions.
And finally, praise yourself! Reward yourself for every victory!
It is enough to say, "I did a great job," treat yourself to a nice gift, and you will feel your mood improve!
Remember, your best friend is yourself!
Until next time!
