Modern technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), are transforming many aspects of corporate life. In our company, implementing AI has become more than just a trend; it is a necessity for effective risk management and ensuring employee well-being. We chose a promising tool: a consultant chatbot based on the ChatGPT generative neural network. Through this bot, every employee can receive all the necessary information and assistance regarding key aspects of their work in real-time.
The new bot, named "MegaColleague," is knowledgeable in 150 different topics. Ten of these topics cover HSE and safety culture issues that employees encounter throughout their entire career cycle at the company.
For instance, before the robot was introduced, HSE specialists processed and answered more than 25,000 questions annually. Following the launch of "MegaColleague," every employee can ask the chatbot a question even outside of working hours and receive an immediate response. While employees might have previously spent a long time searching for the right person to report an issue to, they can now simply message the bot. As a result, specialists are now free to focus on more significant issues that AI cannot resolve.
Of course, building the knowledge base and "training" MegaColleague took a significant amount of time. However, HSE is no longer something abstract and complex; it has become more accessible to every employee in terms of providing information on health and safety matters.
In my opinion, if you want to improve HSE efficiency, automating routine processes with AI is an incredibly useful and promising tool. The chatbot has not replaced us as specialists; instead, it has made our work more efficient, improving our performance indicators and increasing employee engagement with HSE issues.
