Ensuring safety at ALROSA is built on the active participation of all company employees. To maintain the level of engagement, the Company has an institute of authorized HSE representatives working within the "Profalmaz" trade union organization. These representatives exercise public control over the functioning of the HSE management system: they conduct inspections of compliance with occupational safety requirements, participate in investigations of accidents and occupational diseases, as well as in conducting special assessments of working conditions.
In 2024, the number of authorized representatives reached 225. They conducted over 1,600 inspections — a third more than in 2023. Following the inspections, 2,060 observations were identified, 97% of which were resolved. For their active work in 2024, 71 authorized HSE representatives received bonuses totaling over 1 million rubles.
Developing HSE Leadership
The proactive stance of employees in safety matters is of key importance to ALROSA. Department heads continuously work on inspecting working conditions and eliminating violations. They inform employees about the presence of harmful and hazardous factors, entitled guarantees and compensations, monitor the provision of personal protective equipment to personnel, and participate in HSE committees and the development of measures to reduce injury rates, accident rates, and occupational diseases.
The Company has a safety motivation system in place. An increased bonus coefficient is applied for the implementation of measures, timely completion of training and certification, as well as the introduction of pilot projects. An analysis for 2024 showed the need to supplement KPIs with proactive indicators — for example, the timely formation of a training matrix and the planning of measures to improve working conditions as part of annual budgeting.
Consulting and Informing Employees
Employees can address HSE questions and suggestions to the Occupational Safety Committee, managers at various levels, and trade union representatives. ALROSA operates an information system through corporate resources and social networks. Employees regularly receive information about the results of investigations into accidents, emergencies, incidents, audits, and inspections.
Reporting Violations
Employees of ALROSA, contracting organizations, and external stakeholders can report violations through a unified hotline. Appeals are accepted by phone, email, and via QR code; reports can be anonymous if desired. Information about communication channels is posted on notice boards in the departments.
In 2024, the majority of appeals concerned the provision of PPE. Based on the results of inspections, the Company took measures to fully provide employees with protective equipment and replace it when substandard items were identified. HSE specialists verify the accuracy of the received information and provide feedback on each appeal. Control over the review of appeals and the quality of feedback is carried out by an independent service under ALROSA's management.
