HSE digitalization has long gone beyond converting paper logs into electronic format. Today, it is a comprehensive transformation affecting all levels of production processes. In his presentation, Alexander Ekimov, Director of Occupational Health and Safety at T Plus PJSC, details the architecture of modern IT solutions in HSE, showing how disparate data is combined into a working incident prevention system.
Many companies begin their digitalization journey using Excel macros and presentations, which serve as a necessary foundation. However, as process maturity grows, the need for specialized solutions arises. Using risk assessment as an example, the speaker demonstrates how the transition to mobile applications changes the quality of work. The ability to photograph a risk on a phone and send it to the system in one click dramatically increases the efficiency of hazard identification. At the same time, it is critical to maintain a minimalist interface: forms overloaded with fields are sabotaged by personnel.
The digital employee passport is becoming the central element of modern safety architecture. This is the core where data from multiple adjacent systems flows: from training status to medical examination results. Such integration allows for the automated issuance of electronic work permits. The system will physically prevent assigning hazardous work to a person with expired training, missing required PPE, or identified medical contraindications.
The presentation details a combined approach to monitoring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Since video analytics is not yet capable of recognizing all equipment elements with 100% accuracy, a symbiosis of technologies becomes an effective solution. The implementation of RFID tags in workwear combined with cameras at locker room exits allows for reliable recording of PPE completeness.
In parallel, the functionality of access control systems (ACS) is expanding. The integration of flow breathalyzers and thermal imagers at checkpoints ensures automated data collection on the physical condition of personnel before the shift starts, blocking access to individuals showing signs of intoxication or illness.
To overcome a formal attitude towards HSE, the speaker suggests using gamification elements. Introducing competitive mechanics, a point system, and quests during risk assessment turns a routine duty into an engaging process. Creating a corporate mobile app that combines work tasks and safety issues in a familiar social network interface radically increases the engagement of line personnel.

Alexander, excellent presentation!
A top-class specialist who understands the situation and has a deep understanding of the essence of things he shared with us today at the HSE DAYS project!!!
The topic of digitalization is close to me, because in our work, analysis and management of sometimes very large volumes of dynamic information is always necessary, considering many factors that influence situations!!!
I wish Alexander nothing but success, and HSE DAYS more such experts in its community!!!
